School Snack Program

Vegetable and Fruit snack program Deloraine School received a grant again this year from Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba to cover the cost of a nutritional snack of vegetables or fruit. Did you know that only about 1/3 of Canadian children eat the recommended five or more servings of vegetables and fruit each day?

The Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba is a charitable organization dedicated to helping school children learn, grow, and succeed by supporting snack and lunch programs. It’s unique because it’s based in Manitoba – and all of the funds stay in this province, reaching children in all regions of Manitoba.

This year the K-12 students will have a snack of fruit or vegetables on TuesdayThursday or Wednesday- Friday mornings depending on the day of the cycle. Big thanks goes to Miles, Stephanie and Mrs. Burton for preparing snack each week.

Thanks to the Child Nutrition Council of Manitoba for the grant money as well as thanks to the Deloraine Coop for supplying the fruits and vegetables at sale price. We again will look for parent volunteers to help with our smoothie day when we use up any frozen left overs. Looking forward to another year of healthy snacking!!
